Many have asked, "How did Bentonville's mountain trail system get the name 'Slaughter Pen'?"
Decades ago, there was a slaughter house in the spot that now homes the trail system. The road just east of the trail system was called Slaughter Pen Road and the valley became Slaughterpen Hollow. The name is now iconic in the world of mountain bike trails!
A brief history of "The Jam"
The First Slaughterpen Jam was held in 2008 and consisted of a few local riders.
Progressive Trail Design and Friends At Slaughterpen Trail (FAST), hosted an unsanctioned mountain bike race with about 40 riders, now the “Jam” has evolved into a 3 day festival with nearly 400 cyclist!
The 2015 Jam will be the largest to date! Mark your calendar: October 2-4, 2015!
